Los Angeles, California

TYWO at Disney Concert HallTYWO returned from five action-packed days in Los Angeles which could have been taken straight from a movie script!

Morning rehearsals took place in the Music Building at UCLA, made all the more memorable by the guest appearance of movie composer Bruce Broughton (Silverado, Lost in Space) and a workshop with the legendary composer Frank Ticheli.  A private presentation at the Academy of Motion Pictures by movie composer Michael Giacchino (Up, Ratatouille, The Incredibles, Star Trek, Star Trek: Into Darkness) was followed by a presentation of an Oscar (yes – the real thing) to our award-winning musicians.

No visit to LA would be complete without a Universal Studio Tour and getting wet on the Jurassic Park ride!  A brief sleep later, and TYWO experienced the thrill of playing on the Eastwood Scoring Stage at Warner Bros – where the sound tracks of countless great movies & TV series have been laid down since 1989.  A private tour of the Warner Bros. back lot and back to the hotel to change for the highlight of the tour – a performance at the legendary Walt Disney Concert Hall – a program shared with our new friends from the acclaimed Atlanta Youth Wind Symphony under their director Dr. Scott Stewart and the Gwenn Wyatt Chorale.  In the audience for the occasion were composers Bruce Broughton, Frank Ticheli and  Carolyn Bremer.

The experience wound up with a celebratory dinner cruise on the Pacific Coast before heading home to re-live our memorable musical moments.
